Invitation:

The Great Kills Harbor J/24 Fleet 153 and the Richmond County Yacht Club cordially invites all J/24 sailors to the 2005 Northeast Regional Championships and Transplant Cup Regatta to be held in Staten Island, New York, May 14th  & 15th, 2005. 

Eligibility:

The regatta is open to all J/24's as defined by the I.J.C.A.  Participants must meet all ownership, class membership, yacht measurement requirements, and have paid all fees before becoming official competitors. 

Rules:

The regatta will be governed by the 2005-08 Racing Rules of Sailing, the class rules of the International J Class Association, this Notice of Race, and the Sailing Instructions.

Racing:

 

Racing will be on Raritan Bay, in Lower New York Harbor.  The regatta will consist of up to 5 races over 2 days, with no more than 3 races per day.  Courses will be Windward-Leeward with the number of laps and length determined by prevailing conditions.

 

Scoring:

 

The Low Point Scoring System, RRS Appendix A, will be used.  Up to 5 races will be sailed with no throw-outs.  Alternative Percentage Penalty will apply as defined by RRS Part 4, Rule 44.3 Scoring Penalty.

 

Launching and Haul Out:

 

Launching will be available "ONLY" during the prescribed times at Mansion Marina 718-984-6611, just North of the Yacht Club (112 Mansion Avenue).  Hauling will be available immediately following the last race. 

NOTE:  Haul Out will also be available at Raritan Yacht Club, Perth Amboy, New Jersey for boats participating in the Memorial Day Regatta. 

 

Schedule:

 

·         Friday 5-13-2005

(1800-2000) Registration, Weigh In, and Beer at RCYC.

·         Saturday 5-14-2005

(0830-1000) Registration, Breakfast, Weigh In. Launching Courtesy of Mansion Marina

(1000) - Skipper's Meeting

(1100) - Harbor Start

(1200) - Warning Signal, Race 1 (Up to 3 Races)

(1800) aprox. - Party, Dinner/Band to follow Race

·         Sunday 5-15-2005

(1000) - Harbor Start

(1100) - Warning Signal

Haul out immediately after the last race.

Awards immediately after the haul-out.

Entries:

 

Entries must be submitted on the form below or the like.  The entry fee is $135.00 by check payable to RCYC.  Any entry received after 5/4/05 must be accompanied by a $10.00 late fee. 

 

Social Activities:

 

Breakfast will be provided each morning.  Beer and soda will be available Friday Night and after racing Saturday and Sunday.  The Yacht Club will be hosting a party on Saturday Night and each boat will receive 5 dinner tickets with their entry.  Additional dinner tickets will be available at registration at a price of $25.00

 

Directions:

 

Take Garden State Parkway to Outer Bridge Crossing.  Bear Left out of Toll Plaza onto Korean War Veterans Memorial Parkway.  Take the Foster/Huguenot/McGuire Avenue Exit (first exit).  At the Second light on Service Road Make a Right onto Huguenot Avenue and follow to Hylan Blvd.  Make a left onto Hylan Blvd and follow Hylan to Cleveland Avenue and make a right.  Make Left at end onto Mansion Avenue.  Yacht Club 142 Mansion Avenue (Grey two Story Building on Right approx. 2-3 Blocks).
