Our
auxiliary racing fleet is a member of the New York Bay Yacht Racing
Association and enjoys a full season of races held at RCYC and other
Association clubs. In addition to summer racing, our hardy, one-design
sailors "frostbite" spring and fall in the harbor which is in full
view of in the upstairs lounge. The club sponsors an average of five major
small boat regattas each season. In the past we have hosted such prominent
regattas as the Penguin Internationals and the Thistle Nationals. RCYC was
the site for the first Liberty Cup Regatta hosting the skippers of the
America's Cup. Each year we are the host for the pre-race festivities and
skippers meeting of the Around Long Island Race.
Powerboat enthusiasts are
active with a Predicted Log Regatta which includes search and rescue and
other competitions. In addition there are cruises for both power and sail to
such places as Long Island Sound and up the Hudson River. During the season
there are formal and informal competitions among our fishermen. As Committee
and crash boats, our powerboat members are an integral part of the area's
sailboat regattas, serving as committee, course layout and stake boats.
